The Yamaha r1 revolutionised the sports bike category back in 1998 when the Yamaha R1 4XV arrived on the scene. This absolutely beautiful machine boasted light weight, super sharp and precise super bike handling, with a 4 cylinder EXUP motor which produced a whopping 150 bhp. 

This blew the competition out of the water such as the Honda CBR900RR Fireblade, Suzuki GSXR 1000 and the Kawasaki ZX9R.

What followed in the future years was just as exciting with each model Yamaha R1 getting faster and higher tech. 

The real deal was in 2009 when Yamaha introduced the 14B R1 with a cross plane crank motor. This had more torque but keeping everything smooth as possible, with that thunder like sounding motor which is enough for anybody to want a truly iconic Yamaha R1!
